Questions and Answers with Liza Rios (Click

The following is a short Q&A with Liza Rios, wife of Chris Rios aka
Big Pun. I would like to thank Liza for agreeing to
participate in the Q&A despite her busy schedule.
Q: The new documentary
on Pun's life is being released in June. What was your main
motivation in deciding to create a documentary for Pun?
LR:
Big Pun ,Still Not a Playa, was released on Tuesday the 11th of
June. My main motivation for this documentary was Pun. I
did not want him to be forgotten.. It's been 2 years and Pun
was rapidly fading away.
Q: When creating the
documentary, Still not a Playa, what was the most
challenging aspect of its development?
LR: The most
challenging aspect in creating the documentary was staying focus on
the main story. We did not want to point the finger at anyone.
However we wanted the truth to come out.
Q: Pun proved himself
as a rapper, and only started getting involved in film. If we were
still blessed to have Pun with us, what would he have probably been
doing at this time? (rapping, producing, executive producing,
movies, art, comedy, etc.).
LR: Wow!!.. If Pun
were still here!.. He wanted to do it all.. Movies, clothing, record
label..
Q: Most people
interviewed who have met Chris said that they walked away with a
great impression of him. How do you think most people thought of
him after meeting him?
LR: Pun always left a
great impression. He would show loyalty, he had a lot of
charisma. He was also very funny and straightforward. he
only gave respect to those who gave it, and you could tell he was
not the one to F@#K with.
Q: What was the best
thing about Chris that most of his fans didn't know about him?
LR: He was a family
man.. Father first.. Loved his kid.. He was also very spiritual.
Q: There was a
proposal to create Big Pun's Place, a street name to honor Pun.
The Bronx City Council originally did not approve the proposal. Are
people still working on this, or are there other means of paying
tribute to Pun in the works?
LR: I believe they are
still working on it.. Hopefully once the documentary comes out..
They would be able to see Pun's struggle and how much he worked.
He loved the Bronx and died reppin' it.
Q: Your son, Chris
jr., took up rapping and has already done some live performances.
What has Baby Pun been up to?
LR: Babypun is in a
group called 3Down.. They've been signed to Surrender Records/Interscope.
Q: It is said that
Baby Pun has many similarities to his father, even in his style of
rhyming. How important is it to Baby Pun that he become on artist
like his father?
LR: Babypun loves his
father and wanted to follow his footsteps.. It's just really crazy
seeing BabyPun 'cause he looks just like his dad. So he
doesn't try to be his pops.. He just naturally is..
Q: With Baby Pun being
involved in music, can we also expect to see you more involved with
the music industry in the future?
LR: As for me.. Yeah,
you will see me more.. Foundation still lives on..
Q: On a final note,
Pun's memory has been kept alive by various tribute websites such as
this one. Over the last year the number of visitors to this site
has greatly increased, and Pun fans old and new have been showing
their love in many of the online message boards. If you had the
opportunity to say anything to Pun's fans who continue to show their
love for him, what would it be?
LR: As for Pun's fans
I wanna keep it griddy. Keep it real.. Stay true to yourself
and always watch your back!!!! Wanna give my love to those who stay
reppin' Pun.. And to my B O R I C U A S.. I love my people!!! Wat U
thought it waz ova... Nah dis sh!t just started.
